What to Expect
Pediatrics encompasses individuals under the age of 18. Internal exams are never performed on children. Below is an overview of how a typical session goes
Step 1: We prioritize open communication. Our first step is to have a conversation with you and your child about their concerns. I believe in empowering children through education. I'll explain their anatomy and the underlying causes of their bladder or bowel issues. Learning is fun at PelviWell! I use engaging tools like interactive toys, visual aids, games, and videos to make education and treatments enjoyable and effective.
Step 2: Musculoskeletal exam including but not limited to:
-
Posture exam
-
Breathing assessment
-
Movement screen
-
Abdominal wall assessment
-
General range of motion & strength exam
-
External pelvic floor muscle exam
-
Biofeedback training
Step 3: Develop a treatment plan. Our treatment plans incorporate sensory training, muscular strengthening, aerobic exercise, and flexibility. Most importantly, we prioritize PLAY! Research shows that engaging children in enjoyable activities significantly improves treatment outcomes and motivation throughout their physical therapy journey.
